So, I am finally blogging on here because we've done some major changes in our house! I would have blogged about it sooner, but my morning sickness kicked me in the backside! Now, it's better and I wanted to show you what we did.....for LESS!
First, I have to say I love watching the show "Clean House" on TLC. It's super inspiring and I love it. One episode they took out the nasty carpet and put in some really beautiful laminate flooring because the couple was pregnant. I turned to my hubby and said "I wish we could do that for this baby." So, what do you think he did? Went on Craigslist and started searching.
You see, you can still have a fabulous house without spending top dollar. I am a believer. I am an advocate now because I never would have thought we would find what we did on Craigslist.
Here is the stack of laminate we bought....
Quite a stack eh?
First thing we had to do was pull up all our nasty carpet.....this was a bigger job then we has anticipated to be honest, but everyone chipped in. My job was to wash all the boards which had been sitting in the guys garage and were quite dirty.
Even our six year old was pulling nails up from the floor. He was a good helper!
Then we got crazy and pulled the carpet off the stairs!
Let the laying begin...and I don't mean the little dude in the back. haha
Fake! haha....to be six again!
Now, do you want to see the results of our 3 week project? It took 3 weeks because I was so sick with morning sickness and my husband pretty much did it all by himself, with the occasional help from our boys.
Aren't the stairs lovely? It's still taking me a little while to get used to but I love looking at it.
This is the front room where I house my long arm quilting machine, but look how beautiful the floors are!! Ahhh. I love it.
This is our dining area...we decided to cover up the flooring that was in the house and add this floor here too. Isn't it lovely? Sorry about the crumbs.....boys, that's all I'm going to say.
So, would you like to know how much this project cost?
1100 sq ft of Flooring (bought on craigslist) ................ $200.00
Underlayment (new)......................... $197.00
Bull nose for stairs (new) ..................$190.00
The tools were borrowed from family, so we saved there and the labor and time was on us.
Not bad for a totally new floor. We did the hallway upstairs too, so all we have left to change are the bedrooms. I am sharing this because I never thought we could find this kind of a deal and I was wrong.
You can make your house beautiful, you just need the patience to find the deals!
What kind of deals have you found on Craigslist?
